Horace and Kath Hales

Horace & Kath Hales Evening Telegraph, 19th February, 1999

Cycling is good way to power romance
PEDAL power led to romance and marriage for Horace and Kath Hales who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary yesterday.

The couple, who met at Wellingborough Cycling Club 64 years ago while they were both keen cyclists, are now both aged 87. They live in Tennyson Road, Rushden. They have four children, ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

They celebrated with a family party and will be holding an 'open house' tomorrow for visiting relatives.

Mr Hales retired from Whitworths at Little Irchester where he mixed animal feed.

Both are former members of the Rushden Salvation Army Over-60s group. Mrs Hales was a member of the Rushden Highfield Baptist Women's Hour group. She said: "We believe in give and take in marriage." The couple are pictured left.
