The marriage took place on Saturday, at the Independent Wesleyan Church, Rushden, of Miss Catherine Annie Matilda Tansey, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tansey, of 23, Moor-road, Rushden, to Pte. Charles Reginald Groom, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Groom, of 2, Woburn-place, Rushden.  The Rev. C. J. Keeler officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was smartly gowned in white crepe de chine with hat to match and carried a choice bouquet of Easter lilies and carnations, the gift of the bridegroom.  She wore a gold bracelet, also the gift of the bridegroom.  Four bridesmaids were in attendance, viz., the Misses Nana Tansey (sister of the bride), Maisie Leigh (cousin of the bridegroom), Phyllis Groom (sister of the bridegroom), and Dorothy Harrison (niece of the bride), all of whom were tastefully attired in pale blue alpaca with hats to match.  They wore gold brooches, gifts of the bridegroom.  The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Cyril Groom (brother of the bridegroom).  A reception at the bride’s home followed the ceremony and Pte. and Mrs. Groom were the recipients of numerous presents, including a dinner service and fancy fern pot from the C.W.S. bottom-room, where the bride has been employed for the past three years.  The bridegroom, who joined the Colours in September, 1914, has been through the thick of the fighting on the Western front, and has been twice wounded.  He has been in England since August last, when he was sent home as the result of an accident to his right knee, but he has now fully recovered, and expects to return to France in the near future.
