The Rushden Echo & Argus, 20th August, 1943, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Grohman

Forty-Eight Years in Station-road

Many friends met at St. Peter’s Church Room on Saturday to celebrate the Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Martin Grohman, of 30, Station-road, Rushden, who were married at All Saints Church, Wellingborough, on August 14, 1893.

Mr. and Mrs. Grohman both originated from Wellingborough and lived there until twelve months after their marriage. They have resided in Station-road for 48 years and are well-known in that neighbourhood, being closely interested in St. Peter’s Church.

For 30 years Mr. Grohman, who is now 73, worked for Messrs. Cunnington Brothers as a clicker, then becoming a foreman for Messrs. Eaton and Co. and later opening his own boot repairing business, which he still maintains in Midland-road. He has for many years been a constant supporter of the Rushden Temperance Band.

Mrs. Grohman (nee Elizabeth Ann Botterill) is 74. For ten years before her marriage she was a dressmaker in the employ of Messrs. Bodaly and Co., Wellingborough.

There are two children, Mr. S. Grohman and Mrs. Twelvetree, both of Rushden, and it was the daughter who provided the cake for Saturday’s party.
