Many relatives and friends from Rushden were among the hundreds attracted to the High-road Methodist Church, Tottenham, N17, for the wedding of Mr Gordon Walter Ette, the only son of Mr and Mrs H Ette of 1, Brookfield Road, Rushden, and Miss Elsie Dorothy Cass, younger daughter of Mr E R Cass, 95, Higham Road, Tottenham, and of the late Mrs Cass.
A native of Rushden, the bridegroom was educated at Alfred Street School, Kettering Grammar School and Cheltenham College (St Paul’s). He is now on the Tottenham teaching staff and has many social interests, being General Secretary of the Tottenham JOC, chairman of the Tottenham Young Teachers Association, Methodist chorister and Wesley Guild secretary, and ex captain of the Tottenham Masters CC. In recent years he has assisted the Rushden Town and Mission cricket elevens.
The bride too has been a school teacher and Methodist choir member, and she is leader of a Brownie pack.
The Rev George A East conducted the wedding ceremony, and Mr Edmund Wilson, the organist and choirmaster, accompanied the hymns “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “O Perfect Love”

Given away by her father, the bride wore a shell pink satin dress trimmed with silver. She had a headdress of silver and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and lilies of the valley.
Miss Grace Cass (bride’s sister) and Miss Kathleen Madge Ette (bridegroom’s sister) were the bridesmaids. They wore dresses of pale blue floral georgette with blue velvet sashes, and headdresses of blue velvet leaves and pink flowers. The bouquets were of pale pink carnations and love-in-the-mist, and the bridesmaids’ gifts were silver bracelets.
Mr Stanley Booley was the best man, and the ushers were Messrs D G M Jones, P Sprowson and H James.
A reception was held at the YWCA, where the guests numbered seventy, and among the telegrams received was one from Cr A J Lynch JP, chairman of Tottenham Education Committee.
The honeymoon is being spent at Sidmouth. For travelling the bride wore a natural coloured linen tweed swagger coat and tussore frock, with brown suede hat, shoes and gloves to match. Many presents were received from friends in the Rushden district.
