Golden Wedding - Rushden Pigeon Flyer and His Wife

Mr. and Mrs. William Potter Dunkley, of 24, Victoria-road, Rushden, arrived at their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday.

The wedding was at St. Mary's Parish Church, Rushden, on April 22nd, 1895, and the Rev. C. J. Gordon officiated. Mrs. Dunkley was then Miss Sarah Elizabeth Wiggins.

The couple, both natives of Rushden, have always resided here. Both are in good health; Mr. Dunkley is 72 and his wife 74.

Mr. Dunkley has been a clicker in the boot and shoe trade and retired from service with the Coxton Shoe Co. almost seven years ago. He has been a keen pigeon flyer for many years, belongs to the Rushden, Northants Federation and North-road Championship Clubs, and has won a number of cups.

There are two sons and two daughters—Mr. William Dunkley, of Rushden, Pte. Henry Dunkley, R.A.O.C., Miss Elsie Dunkley, of 24, Victoria-road, and Mrs. Winifred Coker, who went to America 24 years ago and lives in Connecticut.

A celebration is to be held tomorrow in the Adult School. A celebration is to be held tomorrow in the Adult School. A special cake has been made and about 60 guests are expected.
