Deceased Persons Creditors and Debtors
and Assignments
From time to time advertisements for claims against a deceased person's
estate were made in the newspapers.
(in date order)
Sales might also have been held to dispose of their goods.
Sometimes Goods were assigned to a third party.

Northampton Mercury 2nd March 1805

To Creditors and Debtors

ALL Persons who have any Claims or Demands on the Estate and Effects of WILLIAM WARREN, late of Rushden, in the County of Northampton, Farmer and Cow-Dealer, deceased, are requested forthwith to send an Account thereof to John Smith and John Mason, both of Rushden aforesaid, the Executors of the said Deceased, in order that the same may be discharged; and all Persons who were Indebted to the said William Warren, at the Time of his Death, are desired immediately to pay their respective Debts to the said John Smith and John Mason, or they will be sued for the Recovery thereof without further Notice.

Northampton Mercury 2nd March 1805

To Creditors and Debtors of Francis Mee, of Higham Ferrers, in the County of Northampton, Clock and Watch-maker.

Notice is hereby given, That the said Francis Mee hath this Day assigned over his Estate and Effects to John Mee, of Higham Ferrers aforesaid, Innholder; and John Woolaston, of the same place, Cooper; in Trust for themselves and such other of the Creditors of the said Francis Mee who shall execute the Deed of Assignment within three Months from the date thereof; and that such Deed of Assignment is now at the Office of Mr. Goodhall, Solicitor, Wellingborough, to receive the Signature of such of the Creditors who shall choose to execute the same, and accept the Composition arising therefrom.—All Persons standing indebted to the said Francis Mee, are requested to pay their Debts immediately to the said John Mee and John Woolaston, or they will be sued for the same without further Notice.

Northampton Mercury, 23rd September 1809

To the Debtors and Creditors of George Judkin, late of Rushden, in the County of Northampton, Farmer.

Whereas the said George Judkin having assigned over all his personal Estate and Effects to Samuel Hilyard, of Scaldwell, Samuel Achurch, of Rushden, aforesaid; and Robert Judkin, of Barton Seagrave; in Trust for the Benefit of his Creditors.

Notice is hereby given : That the Deed of Assignment lies at the Office of Thomas Marshall, Solicitor, Kettering, for Signature, and all Persons indebted to the said Estate, are desired forthwith to pay their respective Debts to the said Trustees, or the said Thomas Marshall, without Delay.

To the Creditors of John Peacock of Rushden

All persons having any Claim or Demand on John Peacock, Lacedealer, of Rushden, are requested to meet at the Green Dragon Inn, in Higham Ferrers, on Tuesday the 7th of November, at Ten o’Clock in the forenoon.

Notice is Hereby Given

That William Pack of Rushden, in the County of Northampton, Grocer and Baker, hath by Indenture bearing Date the 24th Day of April instant, assigned all his personal Estate and Effects to John Barber Tuck, of Wellingborough, Grocer; William Warren, of Welling borough, Grocer; and William Blott, of Higham Ferrers, Farmer; in trust for the equal Benefit of such of his Creditors as shall execute the said Indenture within three Months from the Date thereof.—And such indenture was duly executed by the said William Pack, John Barber Tuck, and William Warren, on the Day of the Date thereof, and by the said William Blott, on the 26th Day of April instant, and the Execution of the same by the said several Parties is attested by Isaac Robinson, of Wellingborough aforesaid, Solicitor.
