Mr. Harry Darnell, B.Sc., of Wellingborough, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Darnell, of Church-street, Rushden, was yesterday married to Miss Florence Watson, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Watson, of Elm View, Kettering, the ceremony taking place at the Toller Congregational Church, Kettering. The Rev. C. L. Atkins, B.A., of Rothwell, officiated. Though a quiet one, because of recent bereavement in the families of both bride and bridegroom, the wedding was a very pretty function. The communion dais was embellished with palms and ferns, and a large number of friends of the contracting parties assembled in the church. Mr. W. Handel Hall, organist of Doddridge Church, Northampton, a friend of both bride and bridegroom, played marital music on the organ, including the Bridal March “Lohengrin” as the bride entered the church, escorted by father, who subsequently gave her away. She was prettily attired in soft French grey crepe de chine, with three-quarter coat of like material, together with a hat of grey aeroplane, trimmed with new stitching, etc., and carried a choice white shower bouquet. The bridesmaid was Miss Susie L. Watson (her sister), who wore a dainty gown of shell pink taffeta chiffon, with ivory ninon fichu, and paste buttons, the skirt with long gathered tunic being threaded with wide satin ribbon round the bottom, her black picture hat was of old-world style; she carried a bouquet of pale pink and mauve flowers.
Mr. A. B. Gray, of Wellingborough, carried out the duties of best man.
Mr. Hall played Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March” as the happy pair left the church.
A reception was held at Elm View, and the bride and bridegroom subsequently left for Derbyshire.
Many choice presents were received.
Mr. and Mrs. Darnell will reside at Wellingborough.
