A well-known footballer entered the bonds of matrimony on Saturday at the Rushden Parish Church, where the wedding took place of Mr. Harold Cox, of 66, High-street, Higham Ferrers, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Cox, to Miss Kate Cook, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Cook, of 30 Duck Street, Rushden; the Rector (the Rev. P.E. Robson) officiating.

Mr. Harold Cox (popularly known as “Adge”) is a member of the Rushden Town Reserve Eleven, playing at inside right, but his skilful play has merited his inclusion (at inside left) in the first team in the Senior Cup Matches against Peterborough and Stamford. Joining the colours in September 1914, at the age of 16, he saw some years’ service in France and was wounded on one occasion. Last football season he assisted Higham, but came to Rushden early in the present football period.
His footballing colleagues of Rushden Reserves attended the wedding and formed a guard of honour at the church door, where they showered confetti over the then popular friend and his bride. A football boot, decorated with the club’s colours (red and black) was tied to the back of the motor car.
Mr. Roland Cox (brother of the groom) was the best man, and the bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Ella Cook (her cousin) and Miss Edna Colton (niece of the bridegroom). The bride was attired in a fawn pin-pleated costume and hat to match and carried a bouquet of lilies, carnations and narcissi. A reception was afterwards held at the bride’s home.
