Gunner’s Wedding—A wedding of considerable local interest took place on Friday afternoon at Peckham, when Miss Beatrice Mabel Horn, second daughter of Mr. Horn, of Asylum-road, Peckham, was married to Gunner John Andrew Corby, of the R.H.A., eldest son of a prominent Rusden gentleman, Mr. Fred Corby, of “The Beeches,” Rushden. The bride was prettily attired in nigger brown, with a putty-coloured Georgette hat trimmed with pink beads. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and heather, and wore a gold pendant set with fine pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Horn (sister of the bride) and Miss Florence Corby (sister of the bridegroom). Mr. Harold Sharwood, of the Naval Wireless, and of Rushden, acted as best man. The reception took place at the Ladies’ Parlour of the Chapel, and many beautiful gifts were received, including a silver teapot from Mr. F. Corby’s employees at Rushden. The bridegroom was invalided from Mesopotamia, having joined up in November 1914.
