Rushden Echo, 22nd March 1918, transcribed by Kay Collins
Colman - Campion
Military Wedding at Rushden

The marriage was solemnized at St. Mary’s Church, Rushden, yesterday, by the Rev. P. E. Robson (Rector), of Miss Emily Campion, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Campion, of Oakley-road, Rushden, and Pte. Edward James Colman, Northants Regt., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Colman, of 16 Crabb-street, Rushden. The bride, who was fashionably costumed in navy blue carried a choice bouquet and wore a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. She was given away by her father, and was attended by two bridesmaids—Miss Bertha Colman (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Nellie Campion (sister of the bride) both of whom wore smart navy blue costumes with green picture hats and gold lockets and chains, the gifts of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Pte. Arthur Howes (cousin of the bridegroom). A reception at the bride’s home followed the ceremony. The bridegroom, who is home on leave, joined the colours nearly three years ago, and has been in France since two years last December. He has been through the thick of the fighting but fortunately has only received one slight wound. Some handsome and useful wedding gifts have been received.
