A letter of congratulation for his services on the occasion of the tragic fire in Orchard-place, Rushden, when an American soldier was asphyxiated, has been received by Mr. J. H. Bardon, of 11, Orchard-place, Rushden, from Lord Trent, Regional Commissioner of the North Midlands area.

Lord Trent writes: “My attention has been drawn to the part which you played in the rescue of Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Clayton and their daughter, Judy, on the occasion of the fire at 10, Orchard-place, on January 14th.

As Regional Commissioner, I should like to congratulate you on the high standard of conduct which you showed, regardless of your personal safety, in rescuing this family, and for your prompt action in calling in the Fire Service.”
