At St. Mary’s, Rushden, on Saturday, the Rev. J. P. S. Mathers conducted a wedding between Miss Daisy Furness, youngest daughter of Mrs. K. Furness and the late Mr. G. E. Furness, 124, Rushden-road, Wymington, and Mr. Leslie William Cherry, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Cherry, 27, Westfield-street, Higham Ferrers.
Given away by her brother, Mr. T. Furness, the bride was attired in white figured lace over satin, with white veil, trimmed with two gardenias, and white satin shoes. She wore diamond ear-rings (a gift of the bridegroom) and had a bouquet of red rosebuds, white heather and trailing fern.
Miss Lillian Warren, niece of the bride, was the chief bridesmaid, assisted by Miss Eileen Sherwood (another niece) and little Almar Pack, cousin of the bridegroom. The older girls wore blue figured lace over satin with caps of organdie and flowers, and carried pink carnations and trailing fern. The small attendant was in blue taffeta with a blue floral wreath, and held a posy of sweet peas.
Mr. Wilson, of Higham Ferrers, acted as best man. There were two hymns, “O Perfect Love” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father.”
A reception was held at 124, Rushden-road, Wymington. Wedding gifts included a fire screen from the bride’s fellow workers at Messrs. Seddon and Arlidge’s factory.
