| Two well-known Rushden residents were united in the bonds of matrimony on Monday and much local interest was shown in the event, as both are highly respected throughout the town. We refer to Miss Emma C. Lack, eldest daughter of Mr. Jonathan Lack, of High-street, Rushden, and Mr. Ernest Luther Brightwell, youngest son of the late Mr. Thos. Brightwell, of Glassbrook-road, Rushden. Each has been associated with the Park-road Baptist Church (where the ceremony took place) for a considerable time. The bride is a member of the choir. The bridegroom is secretary of the choir, secretary of the Kettering Football Combination, and treasurer and registration secretary of the Northants Football Association. The officiating ministers were the Revs. W. F. Harris and H. J. Horn. The bride was dressed in white silk merve, trimmed with a silk lace collar, with a bridal veil kindly lent by Mrs. J. W. Radburne, and she wore a wreath of orange blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of white carnations and lilies of the valley. Miss Lizzie Lack, sister of the bride, Miss Edith Payne, friend of the bride, Miss Gwendolen M. Brightwell, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Edna Lack, niece of the bride, were in attendance as bridesmaids. The two former were suitably costumed in pale blue San Toy and the latter in white crepe de chine with Dutch bonnets and blue sashes. They each carried a bouquet of orchids and pink carnations. The bride was given away by her father. Mr. S. C. Brightwell acted as best man. Suitable music was played on the organ by Mr. J. Lindsay Clipson, A.R.C.O. A reception was afterwards held at the bride’s home. Mr. and Mrs. Brightwell subsequently left for Brighton, where they are spending their honeymoon. The bride’s travelling dress was of saxe blue with a light coat and a black hat. There were many handsome and costly presents. |
