Zion Strict Baptist Church was the venue of a “double” wedding in which the brides were daughters of Mr and Mrs S Saint of “Stoneleigh” Newton Road Rushden.
Miss Ellen Elizabeth Saint, the fourth daughter, was married to Mr Philip Blunsom, only son of Mr and Mrs C H Blunsom of “Cotmanhay,” Wellingborough-road Rushden, and Miss Margaret Annie Saint, the youngest daughter was the bride of Mr Eustace Worby Pacey, ALAA who is employed at Rushden by Messrs Cattell and Chater, and is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs T H Pacey, of “Wretham,” High-street, Sharnbrook.
The Misses Saint have both been employed on the office staff of Messrs John White, Ltd.
Mr Philip Blunsom is popular in sporting circles, and is a member of the Rushden Golf Club and Kettering Hockey Club. He was the first swimmer to achieve the distinction of winning the “Rushden Echo and Argus” Cup.

Double Wedding

The brides and bridegrooms are members of the Holmfield Tennis Club.
The ceremony was conducted by Rev S. Champion, of Leicester, and the organist was Mrs Keeble.
Both brides were given away by their father and wore dresses of white satin with silk embroidered veil and coronet of orange blossom. They carried bouquets of lilies.
Mrs Berrington Stoner, of Hove (formerly Miss Hawkes of Rushden) was matron of honour. She wore a green and beige dress with cape, and her hat and shoes were to match. She had beige gloves and her bouquet was of cream roses. The other leading bridesmaid was Miss Lily Skeeles, whose dress was of heavy pink crepe de chine with cape. She wore pink hat and gloves and silver shoes, and three small attendants were Margaret Walmsley and Anita Cave (nieces of the bride) and Betty Benson (niece of Mr Pacey). Margaret and Betty wore dresses of white organdie, the former having a green sash and head-dress and the latter a pink sash and head-dress. Anita Cave was attired in a pale blue dress with silver head-dress and shoes. They all carried posies. Mrs Stoner was chief attendant for Miss Ellen Saint and Miss Skeeles for Miss Margaret Saint.
Mr G Roe, of Rushden (friend of the bridegroom) was best man for Mr Blunsom and similar duties fo Mr Pacey were undertaken by Mr H Lovell, of Sharnbrook (brother-in-law of the bridegroom).
The reception was held at the BWTA Hall.
Mr and Mrs Blunsom who will reside at the Crescent, Kettering, have been spending their Honeymoon on the south coast, the bride travelling in a navy and white silk dress with hip length cape of navy and shoes and hat to match.
Eastbourne was chosen by Mr and Mrs Pacey, the bride making the journey in a tailor-made costume of a brown and fawn mixture, with hat and silver shoes to match.
Mr and Mrs Blunsom’s gifts included a tea service and tea knives from the staff of Messrs John White, Ltd., a pewter biscuit box from L W Bradshaw, an electric clock from Kettering Hockey Club and a supper cloth from Holmfield Tennis Club.
Mr and Mrs Pacey received similar presents from Messrs John White’s staff, and from L W Bradshaw, a pickle fork from the Holmfield Tennis Club, a cheque from Messrs Cattell and Chater, and a chair from the staff.
“Sharnbrook House,” St Mary’s avenue, Rushden, is to be their home.
The cars for the occasion were supplied by Messrs Wadsworth Bros. and Messrs Abbott and Sons.
