A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Church, Rushden, on Christmas Day at 2.30, the contracting parties bring Mr. Jesse Bird second son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bird, of Little-street, Rushden, and Miss Margaret Evelyn Young, youngest daughter of Mr. Thomas Henry Young, of Wednesbury, Staffs.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Victor Young, of Nantwich, Cheshire, was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Frances Ellen Bird (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Lilian Bird (cousin of the bridegroom).
The bride was prettily attired in a cream voile dress and bridal veil, and wore a wreath of orange blossom. She carried an ivory-bound prayer book, the gift of the bridegroom.
The two bridesmaids wore costumes of cream cloth, and black hats trimmed with gold berries.
The duties of best man were ably performed by Mr. Herbert Partridge of Rushden.
The ceremony was performed by the Rector (the Rev. Arthur Kitchin, R.D.), assisted by the Rev. E. W. Suart. A guard of honour was formed at the church by the Church Lads' Brigade, of which the bridegroom was a member, under the command of Lieut. The Rev. W. B. Masefield and Staff-Sergt. Copson; and the bugle band, under Bandmaster Percival, sounded the general salute as the happy pair left the church.
A reception was afterwards held at their future home. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many pretty and useful presents.
