Considerable interest was manifested in the wedding at the Rushden parish church on Monday afternoon, of Mr. William Beer, of Market Harborough, and Miss Emily Mary Smith fourth daughter of Mr. Joseph Smith, dairyman, and formerly of Wymington. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. J. G. Forrest (curate). The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. J. F. Smith, organist of the parish church, Creaton. Mr. Herbert Beer, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man.
The bride wore a white cashmere dress trimmed with white chiffon and lace, with a hat to match, and carried a magnificent bouquet. A gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom, was also worn. The bridesmaids were Miss Amy Smith (sister of the bride), Miss Beer (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Beatrice Smith (niece). Misses A. Smith and Beer were prettily dressed in white, and Miss B. Smith was attired in a dun-coloured dress, with hat to match. The bouquet carried by the bride was supplied by Messrs. Seckington and Son.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the Coffee Tavern, when there was a large assembly of friends and relatives of the bride and bridegroom.
Yarmouth was the place selected for the honeymoon.
