Rushden Echo, 11th August 1916, transcribed by Kay Collins
Bayes-Knight

The marriage took place at the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, by the Rev. H. J. Horn, of Miss Mabel Knight, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Knight, of 16, Essex–road, Rushden and Mr. Geo. E. Bayes, son of Mr. Geo. Bayes, of 10, Essex-road, Rushden. The bride was given away by her father, and was tastefully gowned in champagne Jap-shan with velour hat to match. She carried a sheaf of lilies and pink carnations, the gift of the bridegroom.

The bridesmaids—Misses Elsie Knight (cousin of the bride), Edith Knight (niece of the bride) and Vera Bayes (niece of the bridegroom), were attired in pale blue Louminean with hats to match, and all wore gold brooches, and carried bouquets, the gifts of the bridegroom.

Mr. W. F. Knight, brother of the bride, was best man. Mr. J. L. Clipson, A.R.C.O., presided at the organ, and played appropriate music.

Subsequent to the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home.

Mr. and Mrs. Bayes received numerous and handsome gifts.
