Mr. John Albert Bates, secretary to the Rushden Toc H, and only son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Bates, of Rushden, was married to Miss Margaret Eugene Sanders, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sanders, of 36, Milton-street, Higham Ferrers.
The ceremony took place at the Parish Church Higham Ferrers, and was conducted by the Vicar the Rev. Philip Kirk, the organist being Mr. Lindsay Clipson, A.R.C.O.
Given away by her father, the bride was dressed in ivory velvet dress and train, Brussels net veil and a mounted headdress. She carried a sheaf of white lilies.
The bridesmaid was Miss Harris, of Wymington-road, Rushden, and she was dressed in rust velvet with a halo headdress to match, and a posy of rust and gold tulips. The best man was Mr. Sydney Hudson, Higham Ferrers.
The reception was held at the School Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Bates will reside at 63, Park-avenue, Rushden. They have received many gifts including an eiderdown and bedding from Messrs Roe. Bros, Rushden, the bride’s employers. Neville’s Taxi Hire Service provided the cars.
