The wedding took place on Saturday, at St. Peter's Church, Rushden, of Miss Doris Mary Smith, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Smith, of 4, Spencer-road, Rushden, and Mr. Samuel Raymond Barnes, only son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Barnes, of 26, Milton-street, Higham Ferrers. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. P. Barwell Spriggs, Vicar of St. Peter's. The bride, who was led to the altar, and given away by her father, was daintily attired in a dress of blue floral georgette, and wore a hat to match, and silver shoes. She carried bouquet of pink and white carnations and white heather, and wore a gold necklace, this and the bouquet being gifts of the bridegroom. She was attended by two bridesmaids, who were Miss Mona Smith, sister of the bride, and Miss Elsie Barnes, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Smith was attired in a dress of blue celanese satin with hat to match, and Miss Barnes wore a dress of blue suede georgette with hat to match. Both attendants carried bouquets of pink and white carnations and wore blue necklaces, which were the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. Frederick Taffs, of Kettering, a friend of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home, after which the happy couple departed on their honeymoon which is being spent at Brighton. Mrs. Barnes travelled in a long blue coat with hat to match, and also wore black suede shoes.
