| Much local interest was shown on Monday in the wedding of Miss Florence Beatrice Helsdown, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Helsdown, of Cromwell-road, Rushden, and Mr. Harry Robert Axten, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Axten, of Loughborough, which took place at St. Mary’s Church. The Rev. P. E. Robson (Rector) was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly costumed in white satin trimmed with pearls. She wore a bridal veil, kindly lent by a friend, and carried a bouquet of lilies, the gift of the bridegroom. Two of the bridesmaids, Miss Elsie May Helsdown and Miss Millicent Ada Helsdown (sisters of the bride) wore pale blue silk dresses with black hats and white plumes. Two younger bridesmaids, Miss Dorothy Sophia Helsdown and Edith Drage (sister and cousin of the bride) were dressed in white silk with black hats with pink trimming. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of marguerites. Mr. Herbert Allen, a friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home. The honeymoon is being spent at Liverpool. The bride’s travelling costume was of cream cashmere. There were many handsome presents. |
