A Motor taxi for the collection of mails from pillar and wall letter boxes in the borough is the latest innovation at Blackpool. A postman was to be seen driving round North Shore on this duty yesterday afternoon—says a Blackpool paper—and besides enormously lightening his labours, he seemed quite capable of doing the work of three men in less time than the usual collection must occupy.
Rushden people will be interested to learn that the postman in question is Mr Charles Ashby, the former devoted secretary of the Rushden Temperance Band. He has been working for the G.P.O. just under two years, yet he has the whole town almost at his finger ends, and has now been put into full uniform.
