A quiet but interesting wedding at the Farsley Parish Church on Monday, was that of Miss Beatrice Margaret Knapton, daughter of Mr.Harry Knapton and the late Mrs.Knapton, formerly of Horsforth, and niece of the Misses Knapton, Ellesmere, Old Road, Farsley, to Mr.Thomas Watson, only child of Mr. and Mrs.G.T.Watson [sic – A.T.], of Shirley Road, Rushden, Northamptonshire.  The vicar, the Rev.C.C.Mackay officiated.  The bride, given away by her aunt, Miss.E.Knapton [sic – L.Knapton], was smartly attired in a rich blue novelty two-piece ensemble, trimmed dyed squirrel, with veiled hat to tone, and carried a muff with a spray of pink carnations.  Miss Peggy Shipley (Barrow-in-Furness), her only bridesmaid, wore a dusky pink wool georgette tunic-dress, trimmed with dark brown panne velvet, with brown hat and shoes, and had a spray of pink and white carnations.  Mr.Eric P.Williams, friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man.  Mr.Leslie Williams was groomsman.  The bride’s aunt chose a parma blue cloque dress in tunic style, and wore a spray of cream roses, but owing to indisposition Mrs.Watson was unable to attend.  After the reception at Ellesmere, the bride and bridegroom left for the south, the bride travelling in a fur-trimmed nut brown two-piece, with hat and shoes to tone.  Upon their return they are to take up residence at Rushden, where the bridegroom has been appointed assistant manager to the Gas Company, of which his father is manager.
