| One of Rushden’s principal brass band soloists was united in holy matrimony on Monday to a lady also well known in the locality. We refer to the marriage of Mr. Frederick J. Riddle, only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Riddle, of Pytchley-road, Rushden, and Miss Eva Elizabeth Cox, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Cox, late of Higham Ferrers. The Rev. P. J. Richards, M.A., Vicar of St. Peter’s, conducted the ceremony, which took place at St. Peter’s Church, Rushden. The bride wore a charming costume of light grey with a white hat and carried a fine bouquet of pink carnations and white lilies. Misses E. Riddle (sister of the bridegroom) and L. Garrett (cousin of the bridegroom) attended as bridesmaids, and were dressed in navy blue with white velvet hats. Each wore a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Pte. A. Cox, the bride’s brother, whose portrait appears in this issue, and who is home from the front, gave the bride away. Mr. Wm. J. Roberts, a colleague of the bridegroom from the Rushden Temperance Band, performed the duties of best man. After the ceremony, a large number of guests assembled at the home of the bridegroom where a reception was held. The bridegroom has been connected with the Rushden Temperance Band for upwards of ten years and is an accomplished musician. The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome and costly presents. |
