| A pretty wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers, on Whit Monday, the contracting parties being Miss Annie Warner, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Warner, of 26, High-street, Higham Ferrers, and Mr. George Alexander Rae, eldest son of Mrs. George Rae, of Wentworth-road, Rushden. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. W. Peppercorn. The bride wore a becoming dress of grey cashmere trimmed with satin, with a bridal veil and wreath of orange blossom. She was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Thomas Perkins. The chief bridesmaids were Miss Winnie Marriott (cousin of the bride) and Miss Sarah Croot (cousin of the bridegroom), who were gowned in pale blue cashmere trimmed with satin to match. They wore black picture hats. There were also two little maids in waiting, each named Phyllis Smith, one being the niece of the bride and the other the niece of the bridegroom. These wore pretty dresses of white embroidery and hats to match trimmed with pale blue silk. The bridegroom’s brother-in-law, Mr. Anderson Smith, of Northampton officiated as best man. A reception was held at the bride’s home. Mr. and Mrs. Rae were the recipients of many expressions of felicitation in the shape of useful presents, including a half dinner service from the members of Mr. A. E. Wright’s closing department, where the bride was employed for thirteen years. |
