| The marriage was solemnised at the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, on Saturday, by the Rev. R. C. Law, of Pte. George Fountain, of the Labour Corps, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Fountain, of Eaton Bray, Beds, to Miss Charlotte Mary Thompson, second daughter of the late Mr. Charles Thompson, of 34 Crabb-street, Rushden. The bride, who was given away by Mr. George Sail, wore a coat dress of brown cloth with white Georgette hat. She carried a choice bouquet of white chrysanthemums and carnations., the gift of the bridegroom. There were two bridesmaids, viz., Miss Florence Thompson (sister of the bride) and Miss Lily Helsdown (friend of the bride), both of whom were attired in navy blue tailor-made costumes with cream velvet hats. They carried bouquets of white chrysanthemums and carnations, the gifts of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were carried out by Pte. Ralph Underwood, Royal Fusiliers (friend of the bride). A reception was subsequently held at the bride’s home. A number of useful gifts have been received, including a handsome toilet service, a fancy teapot, ½-doz. cups and saucers, and a pair of bath towels from the employees of Messrs. Cunnington Bros., where the bride is employed. The bridegroom enlisted at the outbreak of war, going to France in July 1915. Having been twice wounded, the second time seriously, whilst with the 1st Beds Regiment, he is now in a Labour camp and working on a farm at Burton Latimer. |
