| The marriage was solemnised on Boxing Day at the Mission Hall, Wellingborough-road, Rushden, by the Rev. C. J. Keeler, of Miss Florrie Knight, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Knight, of Newton-road, Rushden, and Mr. Arthur Essam, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Essam, of Kettering. The bride was tastefully attired in cream satin with silver trimmings, and bridal veil with wreath of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, lilies, and narcissi, and was given away by her brother, Mr. Frederick Knight. Five bridesmaids were in attendance. Misses Beatrice Knight (sister of the bride) and Lizzie Neal (friend of the bride), were gowned in pink satin with silver trimmings, and wore black picture hats trimmed with pink. Misses Millie Knight (sister of the bride), May Essam (sister of the bridegroom), and Phyllis Jolley (friend of the bride) wore dresses of blue satin with hats to match. The duties of best man were ably discharged by Mr. George Essam (brother of the bridegroom). The service was fully choral, the hymns “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “O Perfect Love” being sung. Miss Rosie Peck (friend of the bride) presided at the organ, and contributed Mendelssohn’s Wedding March as the bride and bridegroom left the Church. Subsequent to the ceremony a reception was held in the Congregational Schoolroom and was attended by 80 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Essam were the recipients of many wedding gifts of a useful character. |
