Jim Hollis, 2007
Title

These pictures were taken at the Christmas Lights "switching on" ceremony in 2007.

During December most High Street shops open on Sundays and the Chamber of Trade organises the lighting.

A variety of stalls, selling gifts and European foods, filled the central High Street area and the Mission Band played carols and Christmas music to entertain the visitors.

Many of the shops have Christmas trees with lights above the shop fronts and coloured lights are
strung across the street.

The first photographs here are taken, starting from the Church end of High Street and moving towards the central High Street, near the familiar "Old Post Office" building which has dominated the area for over a century. It is now HSBC bank.

The other two pictures were taken after the lights were switched on.
