Windmill Club - Concerts 1898

Windmill Club—A "free and easy" was held on Saturday, no formal programme being arranged in consequence of the opening of the Athletic Club.

Windmill Club—Mr. A. Sharpe presided over the Saturday evening concert, being supported by Mr. W. Trussler in the vice. There was a large company, and the selections were favourably received. The programme included: Overture, Mr. G. Skerritt; song, "The anchor's weighed", Mr. W. Underwood; song, "Out on the hi, ti, hi", Mr. E. Raymond (encore, "Boulogne"); song, "We shall meet", Mr. E. Greaves (encore, "A soldier and a man"); song, "Off to Klondyke", Mr. E. Raymond (encore, "Last night"); song, "The diver", Mr. T. Underwood; song, "When your hair grows whiter", Signor Duvalli (enocore, "Church bells"); song, "Only a broken toy", Mr. E. Raymond; song, "Thy face", Mr. W. Underwood; song, "Gallery and boxes" Mr. E. Raymond (encore, "Boys of London town"); song, "The bunch of Shamrock", Mr. G. Greaves; song, "father's got 'em" Mr. E. Raymond.—On Sunday evening the final concert was given, the proceeds being devoted to the Convalescent Home at Pegwell Bay. The programme included: — Overture, Mr. G. Skerritt; song, "The old farm gate", Mr. S. Okey (encore, "Queen of the Earth"); song, "I dreamed a dream", Signor Duvalli; song, "The song that reached my heart", Mr. W. Underwood; song, "As your hair grows whiter'', Signor Duvalli (encore, "Ora pro nobis"), song, "Rocked in the cradle of the deep", Mr. T. Underwood; song, "The village blacksmith", Mr. B. Bird; song, "Church bells", Signor Duvalli (encore, "You'll never despise old age"); song, "The little hero", Mr. E. Greaves; song, "The lost chord", Signor Dinalii.

Windmill Club—Mr. Underwood presided at Saturday night’s concert and Mr. G. Greaves was vice-chairman. Mr. J.H. Derbyshire played the accompaniments. Some excellent songs were given by Messrs. Fisher, E. Graves, A. Cooch and T. Underwood.
