The barman at Rushden Windmill Club - the largest Working Men’s Club in the Midlands - Steward Ron Kemp draws another pint as committee man Mr F Warr raises his glass. With him (in the bow tie) is Windmill entertainments chairman, Mr Reg Dilley. Grouped in the hatchway nearest the camera (left-right) are 81-year-old Mr Charlie Tarry, club president, Mr Wally Furness, 74-year-old Mr Harry Cave (a member for 54 years), and U.S. Army Cpl. Edward Pyo, based at Chelveston – one of the thirty Americans among the 1,400 members.
