Mother in her diving and swimming days from around 1936, she would have been around 16, was an avid supporter of Rushden Swimming Club (right up until they went to the IOM) holding several offices in the Club. I remember only to well she would take my sister and me down to RSP on the first day it opened after the winter and “chuck us in” – “Bloody Freezing” and dear old Bill Elliott there with his pole and hook to get you if you were floundering.
