Rushden Echo, 28th December 1928, transcribed by Kay Collins
The Rushden Rover Scouts were given their Christmas treat by the District Commissioner F. E. Preston at the Scout Headquarters yesterday week. Commission Preston reported good work by the Rovers during the year. He said it was a great satisfaction to see the interest taken in the boys by the officers, especially the Scoutmasters. The movement in Rushden was still very strong, despite the setting-up of other Scout movements in the town. Scoutmaster B. Houghton responded and thanked all his helpers. The National Anthem was sung. The rest of the evening was spent social fashion.
