Rushden Anglers 1929


The above photograph is that of the Rushden Trades Club angling team, the winners of the summer competition of the Rushden United Clubs’ Angling League. The team includes : (sitting left to right) F. Hopper, W. Taylor, C. Pearcey (captain), W. Holliday, A. S. Waller. (standing) L. Sharpe, J. Hart, U. Towers, W. Hills, E. Taylor and T. Tate.

This is the first occasion on which the Trades Club have won this competition, the Working Men’s Club having won it during the past three years. This year’s winners, in addition to having the best aggregate catch, also had the best individual catch, F. Hopper landing a specimen of 2lbs 2oz.
