THREE of the Rushden Park Road staff were members of the town Printers' cricket team which beat Knight & Lawrence in the first round of the Rushden Works knock-out Cup Competition. Dennis Smith (Souldrop C.C.) captained the team and took four wickets for 35 runs. Arthur Desborough (Rushden Baptist C.C.) was top scorer with 16 runs, and Ken Martin (Rushden Town C.C.) kept wicket.
Footnote.In the "Telegraph" results the following evening the last man read: D. Hyde b Ablett 0. In actual fact he didn't turn up! Dick says it's the first time he's got a "duck" at home!
