Briefly reported in our last issue, the Rushden Mission Cricket Club held a dinner and social at the Waverley Hotel yesterday week to celebrate their victory as champions of the Rushden and District Cricket League. The Rev. E. E. Bromage, who presided, was supported by Messrs. T. Surridge, J. S. Clipson, C. Sanders, H. A, Clipson, T. Swindall jun., F. Austin (vice-presidents), and Ernest C. Bandey (hon. secretary). There was a large attendance. The Tea Committee ladies who have catered at the matches were the guests of the club. Mr. Bromage proposed the toast of "Prosperity to the Rushden Mission C.C.," and Mr. H. A. Clipson supported. Mr. E. A. Mayhew (vice-captain) responded to the toast.

Mr. J. S. Clipson presided over a concert which followed, when the following contributed to the programme: Mrs. E. E. Bromage (soprano), Mr. Walter Smith (tenor), Mr. H. Neal and Mr. E. C. Bandey (humorists), and Mr. Charles Sanders (pianist). A popular member of the club, Mr. Chris Green, would have taken part, but he was indisposed.

During the evening Mr. T. Surridge made a pleasing presentation to captain of the club, Mr. Chris Panter of a handsome clock in recognition of feat in heading the batting and bowling averages and making the highest individual score of the season (101 not out) and also of his long service to the Mr. Panter, who was taken by surprise suitably acknowledged the gift.

Presentations were also made to Mrs. R. Mackness, Mrs. P. Panter, and Mrs. E. C. Prigmore, members of the Tea Committee, in appreciation of their services rendered in providing refreshments on the ground.

The festivities were completed by a whist-drive, Mr. A. Perkins being the M.C. The winners were: Ladies, 1 Mrs. B. Ellis, 2 Mrs. G. Clayton; gentlemen, 1 S. Freeman, 2 Mr. W. Smith; consolations, Mrs. B. Ette,  Mrs. L. Shorley, Mr. V. Nunley, and Mr. P Long.

The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" concluded an enjoyable evening.
