When the company closed down in 1991, the old sports ground was sold off and became John White Golf Club. The Bowls Club stayed for a short time.

Bowlers in the town had joined forces, and in 1986 began fundraising and started with shareholdings in a new venture, eventually opening their new ground. (?1990)

Bowls could now be played indoors and outdoors, so was available all year round to all members.
