4th Rushden Salvation Army

Originally the younger girls, aged 7 to 11, were called Sunbeams and they had grey uniforms with yellow ties. The older girls, aged 11 to 15, were called Life Saving Guards and they wore grey uniforms with red ties.

In this old picture it is believed that Violet Fairey is holding the standard on the left and Winnie Giles is top right.

In 1964 the groups were affiliated to the Baden-Powell sections and became Brownies and Guides.


In May 1977 Carol Whitmore became a Queen's Guide.
