Rushden Echo 16th September 1921, transcribed by Susan Manton
Daisy Day

In addition to the house-to-house collection this week on behalf of the National Children’s Home and Orphanage, a Daisy Day will be held tomorrow. Founded 50 years ago by Dr. T. Bowman Stephenson, the work began with the rescue of two boys and has become one of the largest child-saving institutions in the Empire. While it’s primary purpose is the saving and training of destitute children, provision is also made for those who are orphaned and otherwise afflicted. The children are received irrespective of creed of locality, need alone being the determining factor.

About 500 children of soldiers and sailors have been received.

Miss I.L. Scott, 5, Griffith Street, Rushden, the local secretary, will be pleased to give information or receive gifts. Sixty children have been admitted into the Home from Northamptonshire.
