Rushden Echo, 13th July 1923, transcribed by Kay Collins
The Annual Outing of St. Mary’s Church Choir was held on Saturday, 24 members, the wives, Mr. J. Enos Smith (organist and choirmaster), and the Rev. P. E. Robson (Rector) going by charabancs, supplied by Mr. C. H. Scroxton, to Oxford. Leaving Rushden at 8a.m., they did the forward journey via Buckingham, where a brief halt was called. Oxford was reaching time for lunch, after which members dispersed, reassembling at 4p.m. for tea. After a further spell of sight-seeing, the return journey was begun at 6.30, through Brackley and Towcester. At Northampton a short stay enabled members to visit places of interest. Rushden was reached about 11p.m., after a thoroughly enjoyable day. Mr. F. G. Lilley made the excellent arrangements, and was thanked for his services.
