Rushden Athletic Club
Coal Club

Rushden Echo, 12th August 1921 , transcribed by Kay Collins

Coal Club—The annual meeting of the coal club connected with the Athletic Club was held on Monday, Mr. W. Matthews presiding. The balance-sheet showed receipts £889/3/2, viz., £2/7/5 from last year and £886/15/9 from the members for 328 tons 8 cwts. 3qrs. Coal at 54/0 a ton. The expenditure was £884/12/1, leaving a profit of £5/11/1.

Mr. B. W. Knibbs, the auditor, reported favourably on the manner in which the club had been carried on, considering the adverse circumstances under which they had been labouring. They now hoped things would reach a more normal condition and that the members would have no difficulty in securing their coal for the coming winter. The balance-sheet and report were adopted unanimously. Mr. Matthews was re-elected president, Mr. J. T. Knight secretary, and Mr. Knibbs auditor, with thanks for their past services. Messrs. C. Bozeat, H. Cave, A. Edwards, F. Bayes, and W. Deaton were elected the committee.
