Rushden Echo, 12th August 1910, transcribed by Peter Brown

Rushden Working Men's Club
Children's Tea and Sports

The children of the members of the Rushden Working Men’s Club had their fourth annual sports on Saturday in Mr. G. H. Skinner's field off the Wymington-road. This function which is enjoyed by both members and children to the uttermost, increases in popularity each year. The children assembled at the Club in Griffith Street at 2.30 p.m. and, headed by the Rushden Rifle Band, marched in procession up Griffith-street, along Park-road, down Newton-road, through High-street South, and up Wymington-road to the field. The marshals of the procession were Messrs. J. Carrington, W. Hinde, and A. Short.

In the field the children were provided with an excellent tea, which they thoroughly enjoyed and after this the members were provided with tea, about 200 partaking.
