The Town Band

Town Band Success—At Peterborough on Saturday Rushden Town Band won two prizes in a band contest arranged by "D" Company of the 5th (Hunts) Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment. The contest was held in the Peterborough Drill Hall, and other local bands competing were Irthlingborough Town and Earls Barton. Rushden were second in the selection contest, the judge saying that the band, though not quite together, was nicely subdued. In the match contest Rushden were placed third.

Town Band looks ahead
First prize winners in Division Three of the “Daily Herald” Midland area contest at Leicester, Rushden Town Band are looking forward to the autumn, when it will be their privilege to compete in the national finals in London. The picture on the left, with Mr Fred Murdin, conductor, in the centre, was secured at the Town Band Club on Monday. So, also, was the close up below, of Mr Sam Barnes, the solo baritone player, who is 80.
