Mr W Furness presents the cheque to Mr Eddie Spencer
|
Rushden Town Football Club are off to a flying start, financially, for the coming season, for on Wednesday night a cheque for £250 was presented from the Supporters’ Club.
The presentation took place at the Working men’s Club and was made by Mr. W. Furness, chairman of the Supporters. Mr. Eddie Spencer, F.C. chairman received the cheque which is for the Russians general fund.
In presenting the cheque, Mr. Furness said that double the amount would have been presented had there not been such large expenses. They hoped to accomplish that however, next year.
Replying, Mr Spencer thanked the ‘Parent Club’ whose energy and determination had kept the Rushden club in the top circles. He appealed to football-minded people to join the committee especially those who has just finished their football careers.
Last year the supporters gave £200 towards the general funds of the F.C. and £50 to the ground improvement fund.
