The news was broken to the players after a training session on Tuesday, but, they were told, he would still carry on as a player.
His decision to resign has created a vacuum until a new non-playing manager is appointed. In the meantime, the teams will be selected by a special sub-committee.
Charlie is in his third season with the club. In his first season he equalled the club's goal record of 52 goals in a season.
In his first season as manager last year the Russians topped the United Counties League (Division 1) for the first time in 26 years.
The club accepted his resignation with regret, and have recorded its appreciation of the time and effort he has put into the game. [more on p19 of the paper]
