Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Rushden Mission Silver Band was held yesterday week at the Mission Hall. Prior to the meeting the bandsmen were entertained to tea by Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark, of Heatherbrea, the host and hostess being thanked on the motion of Mr. E. A. Mayhew, Mr. W. Lingard, band leader, seconding. Mr. Clark said it was a pleasure to Mrs. Clark and himself to assist the band. The tea arrangements were made by Mrs. J. Clark, Mrs. Lingard, Mrs. F. E. Knight, and Mrs. W. Knight. The President (Mr. Clark) presided at the meeting, and moved a vote of sympathy and condolence with Mr. J. Blades, of Canada, on the loss he had sustained through the death of his wife. Mr. Clark also expressed the sympathy of the band members with the band's secretary (Mr. C. H. Holmes) and Mrs. Holmes in the trial through which they were passing in the serious illness of their daughter, Mrs. Maddams (formerly Miss Rose Holmes), teacher and conductress of the Rushden Mandolin Band. The band leader (Mr. W. Lingard) seconded, and the vote was carried, the members standing. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mr. J. Clark: vice-presidents, Rev. C. J.
