Sleeping Beauty |
Great rejoicing in the land of Somnia at the birth of a little Princess.
The Christening was a happy day until a wicked fairy arrived. She cursed the Princess that on her 18th birthday she would prick her finger and die.
Luckily, a little fairy changed the curse the Princess would sleep until a handsome Prince would awaken her with a kiss.
For many years the Princess lived happily with the King and Queen of Somnia, but on her 18th birthday she wandered to a secluded room in the castle where an old woman was spinning. Intrigued by this, she touched the wheel and pricked her finger. Almost at once all the people in the castle were fast asleep. The years passed, and the castle became almost covered with briars and shrubs. The only things that moved in the castle were the spiders, covering the sleepers with their silk threads.
One day a brave Prince, hearing the legend of the Somnia Castle, decided to look for the Princess, and found a way through the briars to where the beautiful sleeping Princess lay. Enthralled by her beauty, he bent down and kissed her. She stirred, awoke, gazed at the Prince, and they immediately fell in love.
The marriage was arranged, and joy once again returned to the land of Somnia.

|
We welcome back a well-liked and respected producer, Charles Gillespie, who has previously produced three excellent pantomimes for us. We are delighted to have him back with us.
Again, we are pleased to have Joan Hart as Musical Director, and Vivien Lowe as Ballet Mistress.
Our thanks are due to all those who have worked so hard to make this production possible, and to all of you who have supported us again.
This could be our last pantomime at the Ritz Cinema, and we hope that we shall see a record attendance, and that you all enjoy this Show, as you have our previous productions.

Special Thanks to John Henderson |
Due to the sad illness of Producer Charles Gillespie's wife, Charles was unable to return to Rushden to complete our Production.
Our sincere and grateful thanks are due to our good friend and previous Pantomime Producer John Henderson, who took over on 31st December to complete and give the final polish to "Sleeping Beauty". |
