'PUSS IN BOOTS' - 1972
|
|
In a land ruled by a fearful Ogre lived a miller and his three sons and when the old man died, he left his youngest son a cat. The magic of a pair of boots, sewn by a local cobbler, gives puss added character and Colin the miller's son soon realises this when the cat puts on the boots and begins to talk to him.
Puss plans to make his master the Marquis of Carabas, so that he can marry the fair Princess Melisa, the most beautiful damsel in the land. First puss finds suitable clothes for his master; then, after a confrontation with the Ogre, a castle fit for a prince. Finally the wily cat gets the Princess betrothed to the Marquis of Carabas, alias Colin the miller's son, and in true panto tradition they live happily ever after. Thanks to Puss in Boots.

The R.A.T.S. welcome as our producer again this year John Henderson who has been very busy working in, and producing some very fine shows since our very successful Aladdin last year. His work did not cease when he took on this production of Puss in Boots and we do sincerely thank him for his untiring patience and fortitude.
Not since "Oliver" has Joan Hart taken up the baton for the R.A.T.S. but she does so again in addition to training the chorus. The company have responded to her enthusiasm and direction to the full.
Vivienne Lowe our ballet mistress and choreographer; (once in our dancing troop), has shown everyone by her dedication to the job in hand that we have a valuable colleague and efficient ballet mistress in our midst.
With all these points in its favour Puss in Boots we trust will delight and entertain you all, new friends and old friends it's very nice to have you with us.
