ALADDIN
Abracadabra |
With this command the rocks closed on our hero. Gone was the world he knew; shut off by the massive mountain. He entered a dream world of vast treasure, diamonds, rubies, pearls; a world of fairies, spirits and genies. It was with the help of the spirit of a ring, given to him by the wicked Abanazer, that he gained his freedom. A genie, trapped in a lamp he found in the dark cavern, helped him give Abanazer his just desserts. His mother, Widow Twankey, who thought him a waster, he changed from a poor old washer woman into the richest lady in the land. He himself married the Princess Lotus Blossom and gave his country their most well-loved prince ALADDIN.

Welcome friends, old and new. Eighteen years ago last June we started preparing our first panto and since then have produced a panto at the Ritz each year. So this might be termed our coming of age production.
Our producer is our friend John Henderson whom we first met when he produced Oliver for us. In 1970 John produced his first R.A.T.S. panto Robinson Crusoe and has since produced a number of shows and helped us in many ways. Welcome back John.
Our friends, Musical Director Pauline Longland and Choreographer Robina Cooper are always welcome. I thank them and all whose hard work and untiring effort has made this panto possible. Thank you for your support, I trust you will enjoy yourselves. If you like ALADDIN please tell your friends.

We are sad to learn of the untimely death of our friend BERT IRELAND.
Bert was pianist for two of our pantomimes, but most of all he will be remembered for the love and devotion he showed to the youngsters of the New Experience during the years he was their accompanist.
We offer our warmest sympahy to all his loved ones.
