A FESTIVE PARTY—On Friday the 16th inst., this village was the scene of a pleasant festivity, Mr. F. U. Sartoris, of Rushden Hall, who is the owner of two farms in the parish, kindly giving a tea party to nearly sixty of the inhabitants, in honour of the marriage of Miss Sartoris, which took place on July 20th.

The party included the members of the Church Choir with their wives, the children belonging to the School, and the men and their families who had been employed on Mr. Sartoris's two farms during the summer. The School-room being too small to accommodate the party, Mr. Harris kindly lent a commodious barn, which was decorated for the occasion. Mrs. Sartoris drove over about 5 o'clock, and upon her arrival the tea took place. After grace had been sung, Mr. Harris proposed cheers for Mr. and Mrs. Sartoris, and for the bride and bridegroom, which were heartily given. Later in the evening Mrs. Harris kindly allowed her piano to be carried into the barn, and dancing was kept up with much spirit. The party dispersed about 10.30. after singing the National Anthem, and giving cheers for Mr. and Mrs. Harris, and the Misses Taylor, who had helped in the arrangements. The tea and other refreshments were well supplied by Mrs. Hulatt, of Rushden.
