1908 Feast

Charles Thurston brought this Feast to Rushden in 1908. The ride at the top of the picture was made by Barker & Thurston of Norwich. It has some six seater motors for the riders to sit inside, with panels around the canopy "....tors Barker and Thurston Tours."
The middle ride is a "Nonpareil Easy Riding Pony Circus" and the one in the foreground has "Pip-Pip - G. Hearn's Grand Juvenile .... " around the canopy.
The side shows probably included a bioscope, boxing booth, and hoop-la.

He perhaps also took a photograph at Higham the same year.

Evening Telegraph, 25th Sept 1908

Enterprising Showman - On Thursday night in the Feast ground, Mr Thurston exhibited a series of picture of the Franco-British Exhibition, which were watched with the greatest interest by a large assembly. A tour was made from the entry at Wood-lane until the termination of the grand fireworks display and the flip flap, scenic railway, etc. were all shown in motion. Mr Thurston is to be congratulated on his enterprise.
