First Entrant for Queen Competition - Lynn Marshall, first entrant for Rushden Charities Queen competition. Aged 16, Lynn is an apprentice ladies’ hairdresser. She attends Mander College, Bedford, once a week and her main hobbies are swimming and cooking.

Lunch Raises £80 Funds of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children received a boost recently when a women’s pork luncheon at the Masonic Hall, Rushden, raised about £80. Guest speaker at the luncheon which was organised by the Rushden Committee of the NSPCC, was Mrs. Gwynneth Joyce, a horticulturalist from Broughton, who spoke about flower arranging.
